Setup multifactor authentication for my Vanguard ID
Overview
Vance-Granville Community College (VGCC) employs multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all accounts. This industry standard practice helps reduce the risk of bad actors gaining access to your account and personal/educational information. When setting up your account for the first time, you will be prompted to set up MFA for your Vanguard ID.
Prerequisites/Requirements
This setup guide will require you to have access to your Vanguard ID and a smartphone. The smartphone must be with you when you attempt to log in to any service that uses your Vanguard ID (myVGCC, Moodle, email, etc.) It is not recommended you use a smartphone that you share with another individual. If you do not have a smartphone, you may request a physical token card that can be used to provide an MFA code. Please contact IT (call or submit a support request), and we will reach out to assist you.
