Accessing Moodle Through the Open LMS App

Overview

The Open LMS mobile app is available to download to use for your Moodle classes , but it is highly recommended that you use a laptop or desktop computer to them. The mobile app may be useful at times throughout the semester. You can use the mobile app to:

Easily access course content
Connect with other course participants
Receive instant notifications about course events
Submit assignments
Track your completion progress
Complete activities anywhere, anytime... and more!

Prerequisites/Requirements

An active VanguardID to log into Moodle
A mobile device such as a phone or tablet with the Android or iOS operating system
Multifactor authentication must be set up as part of the login process

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1. Download the Open LMS app.

Download the Open LMS mobile app from your app store:

Google Play (Android)

Open the app. You will be taken to the screen below. Select the I’m a learner button.

Type moodle.vgcc.edu. Select the Continue button.

Select the Log In button. Once selected, you will be taken to the VGCC Moodle Log in page.

Step 2. Log into Moodle.

Follow the steps on the Log In page. Use the Student Quick Start Guide if you need assistance with learning your VanguardID. Select Login with your VanguardID to continue.

Step 3. Return to the app to view your dashboard.

After you have logged in on the web browser on your phone, you can return to the app and see your dashboard.

You will be logged in to Moodle on the web browser of your mobile device, but you may be prompted to view Moodle in the Open LMS app, or you can return to the app from the browser, where you can access your VGCC Moodle courses through the app.

Troubleshooting Tips / Common Issues

Setup your VanguardID before attempting to log in.
Make sure you are using a mobile device to download the Open LMS app.
Make sure you are using an iOS or Android device
Make sure you are attempting to access the correct VGCC Moodle site at https://moodle.vgcc.edu when setting up the Open LMS app.
